Give Me Hope Foundation organized an empowerment tour program for Schools titled’ Empower Them Young” at Nintin M/A and Presby Junior High School Mampong Kumasi on 30th May 2019.
The mentoring program is themed “Write BECE Right” The theme demonstrates our vision of providing tools for our BECE students to enhance their ability to think critically, take their studies seriously and come out with the best results as citizens in the development of Ghana. The youth serve as a critical target group for ensuring that the country’s future is bright.
The mentoring program, begins with a day-long event including career development, inspirational speaking, leadership and civic engagement activities.
The event culminates with Give Me Hope Foundation members volunteering as mentors of the selected students and create a platform to harness students’ skills and talents despite challenges they go through.
Education has an immense potential to change and save lives. We need to encourage students to become exceptional in society by promoting individual growth through academic achievement. We would promote educational awareness for students by helping them understand the benefits of education and to strive for excellence.
“Our goal is to put them on a path to leadership. Use creative methods to encourage disadvantaged students to excel by offering mentorship, summer camps and after school activities”
It is the aim of foundation to boost the confidence of students through constant and consistent engagement with accomplished personalities across the professional field and we must narrow the gap between the student world and professional world.

Some new Junior High School (JHS) graduates have lauded the Give Me Hope Foundation’s ‘iCan Mentorship’ programme for helping them prepare adequately for their Basic Education Certificate Exam (BECE).
Beneficiaries of the program themed “Inspired for Excellent BECE” held at Ordogonno JHS prior to this year’s exam said it helped see them through the exam.
The over 150 candidates who participated in the seminar were taken through the Dos and Don’ts of the BECE as well as general examination and studying tips on how to answer questions effectively.
Most of the participating candidates were excited as they were not only mentored but the Give Me Hope Foundation provided them with some school materials including mathematical sets

“Although it’s just a day’s seminar, I believe it afforded us the opportunity and time to acquaint ourselves with best practices when it came to the BECE,” one of the candidates said.
Another beneficiary said, “We got the benefit of hindsight and it really helped in making the most out of the exams.”
Volunteer mentors, Emmanuel Tsivafe and Cynthia Kumah, who took the candidates through various levels of preparations said they provided the candidates with psychological counselling to boost their confidence.
“We are motivated to extend our tentacles in subsequent mentorship programmes because of the testimonies of the candidates. We picked a theme that demonstrated our vision of empowering BECE the students,” Ms Kumah said.
Founder of the Give Me Hope Foundation, Wisdom Dordoe, said they aimed to remove any doubt and give the students the right boost as they undertake a remarkable step in their lives.
“We taught this will go a long way in giving them the right foundation in writing examinations so it will help them in give off their best,” he said.
He added, “making it an annual event and organising more iCan Mentorship projects will go a long way to improve on the fortunes of BECE candidates.”
Mr Dordoe called on institutions, NGOs, philanthropists, donors and interest groups to partner them in organising such programmes to help JHS students.

From New York to Paris to Beijing, every human is said to have the power and opportunity to become successful in life, whether born into a rich family or poor, or even living a normal life or living with any form of disability.
However, in Ghana, there are very little opportunities as well as social intervention initiatives put in place to cushion persons living with disabilities.
On March 8, 2019, I was struck by the chilling story of a man together with his wife, who are all physically-challenged persons while on a visit to the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
The physically-challenged man whose wife was visibly pregnant shared his story with me on how he and his wife’s lives have been touched by a young man they described in their words as a ‘Guardian Angel’.
The man, who was in crutches while his wife was also in a wheelchair, gave his name as Emmanuel Bonah and legally married to his wife.
Mr Bonah, believed to be in his 40s narrating his ordeal revealed that he almost gave up on life after doctors at the Ridge Hospital told him that his pregnant wife was in a condition that needed her to go through cesarean-section in order to save her and that of his unborn baby, but couldn’t afford to raise any money.
Emmanuel Bonah who was almost in tears in his conversation told me that, in the middle of his frustration; he approached and narrated his plight to an unknown young man by the roadside around Ridge Hospital area, who instantly offered to assist him.
He added that, although he had little hope approaching the ‘stranger’ about his wife’s condition, he was amazed at the swift response and the compassion demonstrated by the young man towards him.
“This young man followed me to the hospital and guaranteed his personal car he was driving in, and urged the doctor to go ahead with the surgery and that he will come back and pay the bills and take back his car, such an unbelievable hero,” the man narrated amid tears.
Mr. Bonah insisted that his wife who was at the point of death together with his baby boy got their lives saved through the kind gesture of this ‘strange angel’.
And as a journalist, I decided to dig further in order to uncover more about the activities of this kind young man.
However, my checks revealed that the ‘Guardian Angel’ in question is a young banker and philanthropist who currently works with Ghana’s Fidelity Bank.
He is also the founder of Give Me Hope Charity Foundation that has touched thousands of lives over the years.
Speaking exclusively to this young man, he gave his full name as Wisdom Dordoe, and insisted that his gesture to Mr. and Mrs. Bonah was influenced by his poor upbringing as a child far back in the Volta Region of Ghana.
“I have seen and tasted how poverty is and I have always promised myself to make a difference by touching other underprivileged people’s lives in society, especially vulnerable groups and children,” Wisdom Dordoe said.
Give Me Hope Foundation which was founded in 2013 is aimed at restoring hope and inspiring the lives of underprivileged people in Ghana.
“My ultimate aim is to see every Ghanaian child get access to education, empower the youth, create child abuse awareness, expose domestic violence and as well give voice to the voiceless,” he added.
Give Me Hope Foundation has over the years embarked on numerous life-changing projects by touching the lives of orphanage homes, street children, prison inmates as well as vulnerable individuals across the country.
Mr. Wisdom Dordoe in his final submission encouraged Ghanaian youth to develop more interest in charity and community works; by tackling pressing issues that matter most to them in society.
“I cannot stress how important this is in every society by addressing an issue that you’re emotionally connected with in order to bring real results and change into the lives of other people regardless of your income bracket,” he said.
Wisdom Dordoe’s strong belief in the youth and children has led him to start a small initiative titled iCAN Mentorship which gathered season speakers.
“We need to let our girls know that whatever sanitary method they use while menstruating, must be hygienic and that they should not feel ashamed during their period,” the founder of Give Me Hope Foundation said.
Mr Dordoe said a young lady having her period especially for the first time, is a thing of pride as it initiates her into the next stage of development.
This informed his decision to take his campaign to some Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Greater Accra as well as the Ashanti regions.
Some of the beneficiary schools are Ordogonno JHS, Nsawan JHS and Presby JHS in Asante-Mampong in Kumasi.
Speaking after his visit to the schools he told JoyNews, it is time society embraced them and it is everybody’s business to teach them how to keep themselves well stressing, it is not something the girls have to be ashamed of it.
“We need everybody to show support for it because it is important to health and nation-building. If we are talking about empowering a girl child through personal hygiene; it is not just about health but also about social development,” he said.
“Menstruation should not be something hidden or to be ashamed of, instead, the girls should be empowered with enough information and means to make their menstrual periods more hygienic and comfortable for them,” Mr Dordoe said.
According to him, if the men want to see their women succeed, it is time young girls’ hygiene becomes an issue of priority for them.
“It is common for women to talk about young lady’s hygiene but I want the men to come forward to fight for this for our young rights,” he said.
Some of the pupils who benefitted said it was an eye-opening experience for them and they got the opportunity to know their bodies better.

Give Me Hope Foundation organized mega Easter Charity Fun Fair for the underprivileged at Chorkor.
Non-profit organization, Give Me Hope Foundation has held its much-talked about Easter Charity Fun Fair program for underprivileged children at Chorkor on 20th April 2019
The Easter event that gathered over 700 children in Chorkor communities with its inspiring activities. The program, the ‘Easter Charity Fun Fair’ programme was fun-packed with so many free activities including; free health screening, free medication, face painting, food, drink bazar as well as entertainment.
The foundation also donated clothes, food items, educational materials and other assorted items worth Ghs 30,000.
On his part, the CEO of Give Me Hope Foundation, Wisdom Dordoe, said the NGO which is the voice for children and the less privileged in its daily quest seeks to restore hope and inspire lives for the underprivileged into greatness.
Dr. Gloria Amegatcher who is the Vice President for Give Me Hope Foundation said the exercise is one of the foundation activities which is free to children in the slums due to the difficulties in getting medical checkup. The medical team screened for malaria, hepatitis, hemoglobin, glucose levels and HIV status.
Mr Ishmeal Lamptey, the chief of the community, appreciated Give Me Hope Foundation, its partners and all who contributed towards the success of the programme for helping their people, and appealed for the periodic exercises of such in the area.
Mr Wisdom Dordoe further expressed a profound gratitude to the supporting partners, Smiling Child Foundation, Dr Rose Clinic, SG Mobile Healthcare, Fidelity Bank Direct sales team, Greenland Medical Suppliers and Sagpro Medical Consult.
He also thanks all donors, organizations and members for sacrificing everything possible to make its maiden outreach program successful.
Mr Dordoe said 120 children have been registered during the Easter Charity activity to have never been to school or dropped out due to difficulties. The foundation will work on taking them back to school and provide the necessary support.
He is also calling on institutions, philanthropist, donors and individuals to support Give Me Hope Foundation in impacting more lives with its great projects.

Kwame Ken’s got a medical condition called hydrocephalus which has affected his head and hence it has caused swelling.
After swollen, Kwame had undergone two surgeries already at Korle Bu teaching hospital. Now the specialists have said that he needs to undergo another surgery ASAP owing to his condition.
Hydrocephalus is a neurological condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, resulting in pressure on the brain.

WHY ME OVER AND OVER?
I see stories of women being raped once when they are young adults or even teenagers and I kind of understand that was bad luck and that it could happen to anyone. I also hear stories of girls that were sexually abused when they were little and I guess that happens a lot in our culture. Sad and terrible but common. They get the chance to meet people with similar stories and empower themselves to use these experiences to become better people….I am also trying to do the same but by myself. I guess my story is not that common and I feel anxious just to remember about it or even think I need to right it down. In general, I was sexually abused since I was a baby, then raped as a kid by 2 different men. Again during my adolescence, I got raped, drugged and raped for almost 2 days by different men that did horrible stuff to me. I was raped again by a stranger during my adulthood and I suffered physical violent and almost killed me. I entered a catatonic phase and came back felling like a second change in life to change this world so unfair, specialty with us women that are perceived and treated as positions of men…the rape culture has to end! We want to continue living even if we have to fight for that right until we die. Congrats to all you brave women.

Lack of basic health facility in Kwame Anum
The figures are joined to our hands but may not all be the same in size and height just like this deprived clinic located in a village very close to greater Accra (Kwame Anum inside Amasaman) our team went on a developmental visit to initiate discussions on other developmental issues in the metropolis and we witnessed a devastating condition of the only health facility in the village which is lacking almost everything a health facility needs to operate effectively, although the clinic was not one of our focus of visit we could not have turned a blind eye, as a social development organization, we have decided to start supporting the only health center in this community to reduce the rampant lost of life of children and pregnant women due to lack of basic health facilities.
The dilapidated building facility is at the verge of collapsing if care is not taken , health workers at the facility also cry for help and calling on the government for support, due to the bad condition of the place , lack of toilet facilities at the Centre and in the community is a major problem for the few people who are posted to work there.
The chief and people of Kwame Anum pleaded for this intervention to reduce the high records of death in the area due to lack of basic health facilities.
